In brief comments, Sheriff Octavia Johnson reminded supporters that she has 29 years of experience with the Roanoke City Sheriff's Office. She also said, "It is an honor to serve the citizens of Roanoke as their Sheriff. Safety and security have been my top priority. I have been progressively moving the Sheriff's Office into the 21st century by updating technology and replacing old equipment" Sheriff Johnson ended her comments by asking the crowd to vote on Tuesday, November 3rd. The rally was held at the Roanoke Regional Airport, Wednesday afternoon October 29th. Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney spoke on behalf of the sate and local Republican ticket, encouraging supporters to use the final days before the election to make phone calls and knock on doors. Gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell, Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling and Attorney General candidate Ken Cuccinelli commended Sheriff Johnson for the job she has done as Sheriff of Roanoke City. |
